fruits, snack foods, and gifts to make a fantastic basket for even

Flu Season
Perhaps a combo fruit and snacks basket? Or how about something
for a nice hot bath with soothing Lavender Bath Salts? A magazine?
A puzzle? A "Thinking of You" Bear? A squishy Stress Ball?
Don't forget the Vitamin C candy.

Applegate's adds an assortment of products to their Get Well /Thinking
of You baskets. A magazine, a puzzle magazine, Stress ball, Disc
Jockey radio, a handheld computer Casino Game, Golf Cartoon Cards, Get
Well Coffee, Cocoa, or Tea. Or something else. Just tell us
their interests...if we don't have it, we will try to buy it elsewhere. |
Basket and Balloon

Why not send along a great BIG balloon? The character foils are
fun and last a long time. Look at how well a balloon goes with a
basket. |
Sick Baby/Child
These cuddly soft quality plush animals may be just the medicine to
comfort your loved one or friend.

Many of our baskets find their way into the Children's Hospital wards
for some as young as newborn Babies. When the child is very young,
the basket is designed for the parents and siblings who may be on a
bedside vigil. We include tasty snack foods and fruit, reading
materials, and anything else you'd deem appropriate to help them through
this stressful time.
Note: We can do balloons for children's wards, but only foil
balloons. Latex is not allowed.
Mr.
Wiggles
would be perfect. |

"Hi Sheree,
I wanted to thank you for the great job you did on the basket I
ordered. It was for Keith at the University Hospital in Edmonton.
Often when ordering something from a distance you don’t necessarily
receive what you ask for...it was very appreciated and it gave Keith a
good laugh.
Thanks again for your assistance and professionalism, I will not
hesitate in ordering from Applegates again. Thank you,
Vicky Gardner" (Sept 2003)

Loves Crafts

What's her love? Crafts, knitting, crocheting, painting,
scrapbooking?( like the collection above). Tell us her hobby
choice, and we can find a magazine to help her pass the time.

Surgery Surgical
patients may not be in hospital for a long time...but they may have a
lengthy stay at home. Fresh fruit, books, magazines, a current TV
guide, puzzle books, a craft, a handheld computer Casino Slot Machine, a
Stress Ball, Bath products, are all excellent suggestions to help them
get through the days ahead.

This basket was very specific right down to the Beef Jerky. Yes,
you can be that specific when ordering from Applegate's. Look at
all the activities to keep him busy.

Here's something to keep the Golf Lover
busy. |
Bedside Vigil
It 's so refreshing to hear from a client who wants to send
something to the family members or friends who have set up a vigil at
the hospital. Or at home.

In many cases, the actual patient is too sick to receive anything, but a
basket brimming with refreshing fruit, cookies, beverages, chips, nuts,
candy, and other shelf stable foods is very welcome by the ones left
waiting. Often they don't have a chance to go to get food.
Magazines are also a welcome diversion from the worries at hand.
A soft toy like
Bailey or Daiquiri is also a welcome
addition.
The above basket was customized for an Asian family at home so cooking
items were included.
A care basket destined for a hospital or hotel would include all
readily-edible foods. |
Pulling for You

Fun and nostalgic...this real Radio Flyer little red wagon is sure to
please. We've filled it with lots of good things to eat, but you
are welcome to change some or all of the items to more suitable foods.
Here's a look at what's in the above collection:

Feeling Blue

Pamper baskets can be just the thing to perk up a tired soul.
Add a "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book, a beverage or two, maybe a
little chocolate,
and voila!
A great "picker-upper."

Here's a very specific basket collection for a woman with a love of good
tea and history. The Chicken Soup For the Canadian Soul was the
perfect addition. |

Old Fashioned Chicken Soup

This fun collection includes of course, "Chicken
soup," We are often asked for this tried and true old-fashioned
Mom's cold medicine. |
Young Boy
Can't Have Foods

This young man had dietary restrictions, so NO foods
were allowed. But he was a typical active boy...so we wrapped up a
basketball to look like a big candy and attached a bunch of fun toys and
activities.
|
Recuperating -
Very Bored

Some of our baskets are for patients in for a long
hospital or home stay. Activities, books, interesting foods are a
must. Sports themes are popular.

Cars! Cars! Cars!
Plenty of magazines out there to suit this interest.

Very Sick

Some baskets cannot say, "Get Well" so instead
we design "Thinking of
You" or "Care" baskets like the one above. She
loves cats.

Suggestions for those afflicted with cancer
and who can't or don't eat much -- we have wrapped up cases of ENSURE
along with a soft squishy
Teddy or Puppy.
Very well received.
Or make the basket for the family members or
friends who have set up a bedside vigil.
(See Bedside Vigil
above.)

Heart Attack

Unfortunately, we do a great many baskets destined for men who have had
heart attacks. They need rest and they need good foods. We
provide reading materials, games, fruits, and healthy no sugar, no fat,
low sugar, low fat foods, to help see them through their time of
healing.
This gent was a Sports nut. |
Diabetic

We do many Diabetic or No Sugar baskets. The owner, Jana,
doesn't eat sugared foods so she stocks no-sugar foods that she'd eat.
As many diabetics know, some no-sugar foods taste horrendous, especially
some chocolates. But our Asher Sugar Free chocolate bars are
delicious and not heavy with carbs. And then there's our no-sugar
Riverbend Antipasto, no-sugar Berry Jams, Maxwell's Extraordinary
Peanuts, no-sugar Vivil Vitamin Candy. We even have a no sugar
delicious cracker to go with the antipasto. And much more.
The above basket was done for a diabetic who loves Golf.
|
Accident

We custom make all kinds of Get Well baskets for those who have been in
accidents.
This was designed
for a rodeo bull rider injured during a competition.
But we've designed gifts for motorcyclists, snowmobilers, boaters,
hikers, and for those who were injured on the job.
Each person received a basket customized to his or her interests and
food tastes.
